Luthfi Auni born in Kampung Bale Takengon is a Professor and senior lecturer in the English Department of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Auni was the first graduate of Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in 1984 and also the first graduate of Sarjana Degree (Drs) in 1987 from the English Department of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training IAIN Ar-Raniry.
Auni earned his Master’s degree (MA) from McGill University, Montreal, Canada in 1993 and completed her Doctoral program at Universitas Merdeka Malang in 2014. In addition to formal education, Auni had also attended various international professional trainings such as: International Certification on Project Management, 2004; Management on Planning and Development Programs, Faculty of Management McGill University 2005; Management on Academic Leadership for University Level at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, 2006; Management on Financial and Administration for Higher Education at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, 2007; Project Design & Sustainability Management at Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vancouver, B.C., Canada, 2007; Management on Human Resource Development Programs at The University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, B.C., Canada, 2008; Management on Administrator and Leaders at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, 2009. Besides serving as a lecturer, Auni was actively involved in the rehabilitation and reconstruction as well as the development/improvement of human resources of UIN Ar-Raniry after the Aceh earthquake and tsunami under the Project of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA); Islamic Development Bank (IDB); Japan International Cooperation Systems (JICS) and The East-West Center, Honolulu Hawaii.
Auni has been also a foreign relations contact person in building UIN Ar-Raniry cooperation with various international partners such as Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Brunei, Germany, France, Japan, Canada, the United States and Australia (2000-2022).
