Khairiah Syahabuddin, M.HSc.ESL., M.TESOL., PhD. is a senior lecturer at the Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. She was one of the Australia Endeavour Scholarship awardees for a doctoral program at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia, focusing on bilingual education (2014). She holds two master’s degree; one is from International Islamic University Malaysia of Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, majoring in Human Sciences in ESL (HSc.ESL) in 1999; and the other one is from University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, majoring in Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in 2007. Among her research interests are English Research in ELT, English Teaching Methodology, Literature in ESL, and English Course Design. Some of her publications are: “Teacher-student relationships: An influence on the English teaching-learning process”; “Teacher Teaching Styles in Introducing Concept Mapping Strategy in Reading Comprehension Activity in Aceh”; “Differences in Attitude and Behaviour towards Learning English Monolingually and Bilingually: A Rasch Analysis with Banda Aceh Data”; “An Analysis of Contrastive Discourse Markers in Students’ Essays”; “The Implementation of Problem-based Learning Model to Improve Gender Awareness of Pre-service English Teachers”; and “Students’ Behaviour towards Learning English as a Foreign Language by Gender and Bilingual/Monolingual Learning: An Acehnese case in Banda Aceh-Indonesia”.
