[Short bio]
Yuliar Masna has been working as a lecturer at the Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University (UIN) Banda Aceh, since 2014. She completed her Bachelor of English language education at Ar-Raniry State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Banda Aceh, in 2006. In 2011 she earned Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (M.TESOL) from Deakin University, Australia. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate at the School of Curriculum and Pedagogy, Faculty of Education and Social Work, The University of Auckland, New Zealand (2021-present). Her research interests include Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), teaching English to young learners, pedagogical translanguaging, and teacher belief. Some of her publications are: ”Engaging to nurturing: English language teaching strategies and constraints for very young Muslim learners at kindergarten in Aceh”; “EFL teachers’ perceptions: Challenges and coping strategies of Integrated Skills Approach (ISA) Implementation at senior high schools in Aceh”; “EFL learners’ code-switching: Why do they switch the language?”; “EFL learners’ difficulties in the structure and written expression section of TOEFL test in an Indonesian university”; “The perceived influence of part-time teaching on students’ performance in micro-teaching class”.
